South Boston: Then and Now

David Bates / May 30, 2013-12:20 pm

My featured post in Curbed this week focuses on one of the most changed residential real estate markets in Boston, South Boston.

Years ago, people thought of South Boston as provincial and racist.

Today, however, it has tons of twenty-somethings and one of the coolest vibes in the city.

I traded emails with two successful Southie brokers, who worked there a generation apart.

Arlene Lenehan was known as Southie’s “FSBO kid” in the 1980s and she told me one of the most harrowing stories I have heard.

Max Vigliotti, one of the easiest-going agents I know, has done sales and rentals in South Boston for the last five years.

Check out my post and see the difference a generation makes.

How did real estate agents work in Southie a generation ago? How does it compare to toda? Check out my post and find out.
